Saint Jo HISTORIC SQUARE

Visit the square. Buildings date back to 1873 and surround a plaza with a gazebo. The buildings are rich in history. There are two historical markers on the square, the First National Bank and the Stonewall Saloon. There is a historic marker at Boggess City Park and Head of Elm Cemetery out Highway 677. There are 3 historic cemeteries, Head of Elm, Pioneer and Mountain Park. Visit the Saint Jo Library on the square.

SCENIC DRIVE

Take a drive north of downtown square along FM 677 and see hilltop views of Mountain Creek and Red River Valley. Devil's Backbone, which lies to the east of FM 677 has an elevation of more than 1,200 feet. The ridge was used by the Comanche and Kiowa tribes as a lookout point over one hundred years ago. Drive east of Saint Jo along FM 2382 and FM 433 for a view of The Breaks Ranch and the Red River Valley. The Running N Ranch, a private ranch one mile south of town on FM 677 has larger than life sculptures such as ladybugs made out of a Volkswagen Beetle cars, large daisies and a sculpture that tells time.
