2008 Saint Jo Rodeo Queen

The Saint Jo Riding Club is currently seeking young ladies who would like to compete in the Saint Jo Rodeo Queen's Contest.  Girls ages 12-21 are eligible to participate.  The contest is based on 25% horsemanship, 25% personality, 25% appearance, and 25% ticket sales.  All girls are required to sell a minimum of 25 tickets.  The new Rodeo Queen will receive a trophy trailer.  The  princess contest, open to girls 11 and under is based solely on ticket sales.  For more information, contact Stacey Ward at 940-727-1717.

Parade Theme 150 years of Pioneer Spirit

The Montague County Sesquicentennial Parade in Conjunction with the Saint Jo Rodeo.


The Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to participate. If you have never entered a float, DO IT! You will be amazed at how much fun it can. Start making plans now for your parade float or entry. Line up for the parade will be on
Evans Street. Please have your entry there by 4:00 PM (Only the float needs to be there that early - not the people).  ALL ENTRIES MUST BE  IN LINE BY 4:00 P.M. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PRIZES.  Please do not throw anything from the float or other entry. This is for safety reasons.  Clowns or representatives from your organization are welcome to walk along beside the entry and hand out candy or other items. Have FUN!

Entries will be judged on:
1. Appropriateness to theme 2. Originality 3. Beauty and attractiveness

A FLOAT IS A DECORATED, NON-MOTORIZED VEHICLE, BEING PULLED OR PUSHED BY A MOTOROZIED VEHICLE.

Winners will be announced at the judge’s stand following the parade. Winning entries are encouraged to participate in the "Parade of Floats" in the Rodeo Arena on Saturday night, beginning promptly at
7:00 PM preceding the Grand Entry..
Special Note:
The Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce and its representatives  assumes no responsibility for injury, nor any liability on a float or other parade entries.
Deadline:

Entry Prizes :
This year the Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce  will be awarding 1st Place Prizes of $150.00 to  the following categories:

The undersigned, in exchange for the opportunity to participate in the 2008 Montague County Sesquicentennial & Saint Jo Rodeo Parade and pre-rodeo activities hereby releases and forever discharges  2008 Montague County Sesquicentennial & Saint Jo Rodeo Parade as well as their respective sponsors and representatives from any and all claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever for personal injury or property damage which may arise out of or in connection with participation of the undersigned in the 2008 Montague County Sesquicentennial & Saint Jo Rodeo Parade parades and pre-rodeo activities. In addition, the group agrees to fulfill the responsibilities as agreed upon with organizers.

Participant(s) agrees to save and hold harmless Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce, Inc. its officers, employees, and agents, including the City of Saint  Jo, Montague County, against all liability from damage to property or injury or death of any person or persons arising out of it, in any way connected with, or resulting from your participation in the Saint Jo Parade and pre-show activities.

MONTAGUE COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL & SAINT JO RODEO PARADE.

 

 

Parade Rules for Mounted Riding Groups.

Please keep for your reference.

1. All applicants for entry are subject to approval and acceptance by the Parade Committee.

For applications to be considered, they must be completed and received by June 30, 2008.

2. Before an applicant can be accepted for entry in the parade, a signed waiver must be provided to Montague County Sesquicentennial & Saint Jo Rodeo Parade .

3. All parade entries must be WESTERN AND HISTORICAL OR RELATED TO RODEO OR MONTAGUE COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL. All riders are required to wear appropriate attire which includes hats, long sleeve shirts, and western boots for men and appropriate western or historical apparel for women.

4. Signs, serapes and unit banners may show the name of the group and/or the rider's name, title, and be worded "presented by" a sponsor. Signs may not exceed "18 X 60." There are certain national companies whose trademarks are an integral part of the entry. These will be allowed at the discretion of the committee. Please provide information about the sign you intend to carry. The parade may not be used to further any cause, no matter how worthy, whether it is social, religious, political, or commercial. Determination of the acceptability of any entry is at the discretion of the committee.

5. Please enclose a description or history of your group, your group leader and

members in about 50 words or less to be used by the parade announcers. (Please

6. It is prohibited to throw or give anything to spectators during the parade, or to do

anything that endangers spectators.

7. There must be NO LOSS OF FORWARD MOTION DURING THE PARADE ROUTE.

8. No one will be allowed in the parade without approval.
